Why do I need therapy?

Therapy is an opportunity for you to know yourself in a deep way. To build strategies and skills to support you when life becomes challenging. Therapy doesn't "fix" you. It does help you become who you hope to be by establishing realistic goals and having guided support along the way. It can feel overwhelming when you're struggling and I am here to walk by your side with years of personal and professional experiences, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel on your journey to a better life.

How is EMDR different from talk therapy?

EMDR is an 8 phase treatment method that expands beyond just talking about your issues into truly changing your life.

  • Phase 1: Is talk therapy! I am getting to know you, and you me. We develop an understanding of your history, your patterns, challenges, and your goals.

  • Phase 2: This is also talk therapy. Here we are exploring your existing coping strategies and places where we can continue to expand your strategies and sources of support. I often utilize other therapeutic methods in this phase, and throughout treatment. To learn more check out the modalities I use and love on my about page.

  • Phase 3, 4 and 5: We work directly with an experience that you have and stay focused on a specific "target". Often times in talk therapy, the client guides the direction of session but with EMDR, I take on a more directive role and encourage you to focus on the hard things that are holding you back, so that you don't have to be in therapy forever.

  • Phase 6: In this phase we work directly with your physical and somatic experience, allowing healing not to just take place in your thoughts and mind, but in your body.

  • Phase 7: This is always used at the end of session and also resembles talk therapy. It is an opportunity for you to reflect on your experience in session, integrate the lessons learned, and support you in regulating before going back out into your day.

  • Phase 8: Similar to talk therapy, this phase allows you to reflect on your progress areas of improvement for us to focus on as you move forward in your treatment.

Project Name

No. I am not currently contracted with any insurance companies. There are several options for you to consider when paying out of pocket for therapy. Ultimately, if you want to work with me, I want to work with you and work together to figure out how to get you the care you want and need to achieve your goals and live your best life.

What if I can't afford Weekly?

While EMDR is my primary focus, it can be done with space between sessions. Therapy should not contribute to an increase in your stress financially. When working with clients who are only able to meet every couple of weeks or once a month, I work with you to identify ways to support you in making the most progress you can, both inside and outside of session, so that you can get the most bang for your buck.
